Miki Agrawal and a Life of Industry Disruption
A life well-lived is one brimming with experiences, positivity, and things that make you light up. For Miki Agrawal, creating a career and a life to be proud of would come all at once. Originally endeavoring to work within the financial industry, Agrawal would turn her attention to the entrepreneurial world. After launching a restaurant in New York City, a farm-to-table eatery, Miki Agrawal would go on to found the bidet company, TUSHY.
Before we can delve into Miki’s latest successful efforts with Tushy, we must dial back the clock. Miki had already been introduced to the benefits that bidets can provide. Becoming a fan of the product made it easy for her to develop a solution to sell to consumers back home.
Early Life and Career
Before becoming one of the most influential Millennial entrepreneurs in America, Miki Agrawal was a student at Cornell University in Ithica, NY. Upon earning her B.S. in Business and Communications, Miki would understandably feel shaken by 9/11. After spending some time in New York City’s busy financial industry, including her time as an analyst with Deutsche Bank, Agrawal felt like she had to take a longer look at her priorities.
Deciding that she wanted to emphasize making a positive impact on the planet, Miki Agrawal decided to turn her attention toward fresh ingredients and healthy food. Her farm-to-table eateries would become a hit, expanding to three locations under a partner’s management.
A taste of success in cuisine would lead to the release of Thinx, sustainable women’s underwear that was designed for use during a woman’s period. The company has continually released new products while using donations to fund support for schoolgirls in Uganda.
Changing American Bathrooms
Emphasizing her ability to reach into new industries, Miki would launch an alternative to toilet paper through her TUSHY Bidet Attachment. Due to her multicultural background and international lifestyle, Miki had already been introduced to the benefits that bidets can provide. Becoming a fan of the product made it easy for her to develop a solution to sell to consumers back home.
Miki Agrawal also understood that the environmental impact of toilet paper was particularly notable. Realizing that more than 15 million trees were destroyed every year for toilet paper, a bidet attachment made sense.
Launching the bidet in 2014, Tushy would begin turning profits in 2017 and by 2021 the company had greatly expanded its product line. Speaking in an interview Miki would reveal, “We should be shifting culture and moving the world forward.”
As a proud ‘disrupt-her’, Miki Agrawal has learned to embrace the discomfort that comes with bringing change to old industries. Miki continued in her interview, “Why should we care about what other people think when we know we’re acting on integrity and really trying to leave the world a better place than we entered?” Upon earning her B.S. in Business and Communications, Miki would understandably feel shaken by 9/11. After spending some time in New York City’s busy financial industry, including her time as an analyst with Deutsche Bank, Agrawal felt like she had to take a longer look at her priorities.
